Jeffrey (Jeff) Brown: NOCCCD Trustee

Principled. Proven. Trustworthy.
North Orange County Community College District

Cheering Crowd

Trustee Serves the People of Orange County, Not Special Interest Groups

What a concept...working for the people!

Community colleges have never been more important. NOCCCD provides superior low-cost education to nearly 56,000 students, including returning veterans, displaced workers needing new skills, young adults preparing for university transfer, and residents of all ages who value education to expand their skills, explore their interests, and improve their lives. We produce doctors and welders and teachers and mechanics. Community colleges provide academic education and vocational training. We are for everyone.

As your trustee, I focus on long-term effectiveness and fiscal responsibility. Community colleges belong to you, the public. A trustee's primary role is to represent and protect your interests while ensuring an excellent education for students. I have been an independent voice, asking hard questions and insisting on accountability. I am not any group’s "special interest” candidate.

Trustees oversee a $574,000,000 construction bond and a $306,000,000 annual budget. As a Registered Professional Engineer, I have the expertise needed to ensure that we receive the most benefit for each tax dollar spent. No other trustee or candidate has the background to fully understand and evaluate technical proposals and opportunities for our colleges, students, and community.

Trustees establish policies, set overall budgets, and assess the results of the professional NOCCCD employees (faculty, staff, and administrators) who carry out those policies. Trustees do not write the curriculum. They do not set tuition fees. They do not determine the courses high school students take. They are not elected to promote their own agendas and conspiracy fantasies. Anyone who suggests otherwise is not being honest with you, and you deserve better.

My involvement with community colleges includes having a mother who taught nursing classes in the evening after working as an RN during the day, starting early morning college classes myself while still in high school, and seeing my children graduate from NOCCCD programs.

My wife, two daughters, and I all attended Fullerton College, and I have been a local homeowner for 46 years. In addition to a Master's degree in Engineering and a Master's degree in Public Administration (with a specialization in public finance), I have over 45 years' experience in project management, taught in public schools, and served as a Director for two nonprofit organizations.

I want to continue my service to you and would appreciate your vote. I never forget that I work for you and only for you.
